While all of this information seems like a lot to process all at once, there are specific things you need to do to get started:

  1. Decide which method you will use for your adoption (Click on the above options - Facilitation or Agency - for more information).
  2. Choose a professional.
  3. Obtain a home study. Depending upon your choice, you will have either an agency social worker or an independent social worker come to your home and meet with you. They will explain the rules of your state and what the requirements will be.
  4. Childproof your home.
